Using the Microsoft Windows Services console

 

The Services console (services.msc) lets you disable or enable Windows services. These are system-level programs that typically start when Windows boots up. Services run even when no user is logged in to Windows.

 

To use the Services console:

 

1.       Open it from the command prompt or the Start menu.

 

·       Command prompt

 

a.       On your desktop, click Start > Run.

 

b.       On the Open field, type services.msc and then click OK. The Services console pops up, listing all services that are installed on the computer.

 

·       Start menu

 

a.       On your desktop, click Start > Settings > Control Panel to open the Control Panel window.

 

b.       Double-click Administrative Tools > Services. The Services console appears.

 

2.       On the right pane, right-click the service that you want to manage, and then click the Start, Stop, Pause, Resume, or Restart button.
